Hi young artists! Have you ever wanted to learn to throw on a potters' wheel? What about handbuilding techniques?
This class is meant for you! Youth Ceramics I is for students ages 7-15 with no to little ceramics experience. This class will include a little bit of everything-- both techniques on the potters' wheel and for handbuilding (that includes things like building from coils and slabs).
Come learn at Make Waynesboro Clay Studio in Waynesboro, VA. No experience necessary
What's it cost? What's the fee include?
A six-week class session costs $150.00 per student. Members of the SVAC and SAAC receive a 10% discount.
The $150 class fee includes 6 weeks of instruction, clay, use of studio tools, and firing credit. (Firing credit is limited. You'll be able to bisque some of your pieces, and glaze fire up to a half-shelf of work. Trust us-- that's enough. If you want to fire more, you'll be able to pay extra for it.)
Does a parent/guardian have to stay?
No, you're welcome to drop your child off. (There are chairs available if you'd like to stay.) There's a grocery store nearby, as well as a walking trail just down the road near the YMCA. (Continue south on Arch, and there are parking spots for the trail on the left.)
Classes are held at Make Waynesboro Clay Studio, near downtown Waynesboro.
The address is 200 W 12th St., Waynesboro VA 22980.
The studio is part of a larger complex at The Mill at South River. Students will be provided with specific directions before the first class.
Refund and Cancellation Policy
We reserve the right to cancel classes which do not fill. In that case, you will be notified 7 days before the first class, and you will be refunded immediately. If you paid via Paypal, you will be refunded via Paypal through whichever method you paid. If you paid via check, you will be mailed a check.
If you decide that you cannot take a class after all, you will be refunded in full if you let us know by email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 540-445-1072 at least SEVEN DAYS in advance. No refunds will be given after that time, as we have reserved your space for you and committed to others that we will run the class at that point.
No make-up classes will be offered for students who must miss classes. If the Studio or instructor need to cancel a class for reasons such as instructor illness or weather, students will be offered the choice of a proportional refund or the chance to make up the class one week after the last scheduled session.
